The Detroit Emeralds were an American R&B/soul group formed in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1968. The group originally consisted of four members: Ivory Tilmon, James Mitchell, Abrim Tilmon, and Marvin Willis. They gained popularity in the early 1970s with their soulful music, often characterized by smooth harmonies and catchy melodies.
One of their most well-known hits is "Feel the Need in Me," released in 1972, which reached #4 on the R&B chart and #22 on the pop chart. The Detroit Emeralds continued to produce music throughout the 1970s, with other notable songs such as "Baby Let Me Take You (In My Arms)" and "You Want It, You Got It." Their music has been sampled by various artists over the years, contributing to their lasting influence in the R&B and soul music genres.
