The Detroit Emeralds were an American R&B vocal group that formed in Little Rock, Arkansas, in the late 1960s. The group consisted of four members: Ivory "Ivory" Tilmon, James Mitchell, and brothers Abrim and Cleophus Tilmon. They gained popularity in the early 1970s with their soulful and smooth sound.
Their biggest hit came in 1971 with the song "Feel the Need in Me," which reached number 4 on the Billboard R&B chart and number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Detroit Emeralds continued to release music throughout the 1970s, with other notable songs including "You Want It, You Got It" and "Baby Let Me Take You (In My Arms)." Despite various lineup changes over the years, the group maintained a loyal fan base and left a lasting impact on the R&B music scene.
