Diana Ross & The Supremes were an American female vocal group that achieved great success in the 1960s. The group was originally founded as The Primettes in 1959 in Detroit, Michigan. Led by Diana Ross, the group underwent several name changes before becoming The Supremes in 1961. They quickly rose to fame with hits such as "Where Did Our Love Go," "Baby Love," and "Stop! In the Name of Love."
Diana Ross & The Supremes became one of Motown's most successful acts, scoring a dozen number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group's polished performances and signature harmonies made them one of the most successful female vocal groups of all time. Diana Ross eventually left the group in 1970 to pursue a solo career, with the group continuing on with new members until officially disbanding in 1977.
