Dickie Goodman was an American music producer and novelty recording artist, born on April 19, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for creating a unique style of novelty songs called "break-in" records, where he would splice together snippets of popular songs with comedic or satirical dialogue to create a humorous narrative. Goodman's most famous break-in record is "The Flying Saucer," released in 1956, which reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Throughout his career, Goodman released numerous other break-in records, often collaborating with other artists such as Bill Buchanan. Some of his other well-known tracks include "Mr. Jaws" and "Energy Crisis '74." Goodman's innovative use of sampling and comedic storytelling in his music paved the way for future artists in the genre of novelty recordings. He passed away on November 6, 1989, leaving behind a legacy of humorous and inventive music that continues to entertain audiences to this day.
