Digable Planets is an American alternative hip hop group formed in 1987 in Brooklyn, New York. The group consists of Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mary Ann "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira, and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving. They are known for their jazzy, laid-back sound that incorporates elements of hip hop, jazz, and funk.
Digable Planets gained popularity in the early 1990s with their debut album "Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)," which featured the hit single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)." The group went on to release two more albums, "Blowout Comb" in 1994 and "Beyond the Spectrum: The Creamy Spy Chronicles" in 2005. Digable Planets' music is characterized by its smooth, poetic lyrics and innovative production, earning them critical acclaim and a loyal fan base.
