Divine, born Harris Glenn Milstead on October 19, 1945, was an American actor, singer, and drag queen. He rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s as a prominent figure in the underground film scene, particularly in the works of filmmaker John Waters. Divine became known for his larger-than-life persona and outrageous performances, often pushing the boundaries of gender and sexuality in his work. He starred in cult classic films such as "Pink Flamingos" and "Female Trouble," solidifying his status as a countercultural icon.


Aside from his film career, Divine also pursued a music career, releasing several dance singles that achieved moderate success. He continued to perform as a singer and actor until his untimely death in 1988 at the age of 42. Divine remains a beloved figure in LGBTQ+ and pop culture, remembered for his fearless approach to challenging societal norms and his unapologetic self-expression.
