Divinyls were an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1980. The band was fronted by Chrissy Amphlett on vocals and Mark McEntee on guitar. Divinyls achieved commercial success with their self-titled debut album in 1982, which included the hit single "Boys in Town." Their most famous song, "I Touch Myself," was released in 1990 and became an international hit, reaching the top 10 in multiple countries.
The band's music was known for its raw and edgy sound, blending elements of rock, new wave, and pop. Divinyls were also known for their provocative and dynamic performances, with Chrissy Amphlett's charismatic stage presence becoming a defining feature of the band. Despite their success, Divinyls disbanded in 1996 and reunited briefly in 2006 before disbanding again. Chrissy Amphlett passed away in 2013, but the band's music continues to be celebrated for its unique and influential contribution to the Australian rock scene.
