The Dixie Chicks are an American country music group formed in 1989 in Dallas, Texas. The group consists of founding members Martie Erwin Maguire and Emily Erwin Robison, along with lead singer Natalie Maines. The trio quickly rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s with their bluegrass and country-influenced sound.
The Dixie Chicks have won numerous awards throughout their career, including 13 Grammy Awards, 6 Billboard Music Awards, and 4 Country Music Association Awards. They are also known for their outspoken political views, which stirred controversy in 2003 when lead singer Natalie Maines criticized then-President George W. Bush during a concert in London. Despite the backlash they faced, the Dixie Chicks continued to release music and tour, solidifying their status as one of the most successful female groups in country music history.
