Don Covay, born Donald Randolph in 1938, was an American R&B, rock and roll, and soul singer-songwriter. He started his career in the late 1950s as a member of the Rainbows, before going solo in the early 1960s. Covay was known for his energetic stage presence and powerful vocals, which helped him achieve success in the music industry.
He is best known for his hits such as "Mercy, Mercy" and "See-Saw," which both reached the top of the R&B charts in the 1960s. Covay also wrote songs for other artists, including "Chain of Fools" for Aretha Franklin. Throughout his career, Covay blended elements of R&B, soul, and rock to create a unique sound that resonated with audiences. He continued to perform and record music until his passing in 2015.
