Don Gibson was an American singer, songwriter, and musician born on April 3, 1928, in Shelby, North Carolina. He is best known for his influence on the country music genre, particularly the subgenre known as the "Nashville Sound." Gibson's career took off in the late 1950s with hits like "Oh Lonesome Me" and "I Can't Stop Loving You," which are considered classics of the country music genre. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001 in recognition of his contributions to the genre.


In addition to his success as a performer, Don Gibson was also a prolific songwriter, penning many of his own hits as well as songs recorded by other artists.
