Don Williams was an American country singer and songwriter born on May 27, 1939, in Floydada, Texas. He began his music career in the late 1960s and gained fame for his distinctive smooth baritone voice and traditional country sound. Williams released his debut album in 1973, and throughout his career, he achieved 17 number one hits on the country charts. Some of his most well-known songs include "Tulsa Time," "I Believe in You," and "You're My Best Friend."


Williams was known for his laid-back, easy-going demeanor both on and off stage, earning him the nickname "Gentle Giant" in the country music industry. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010 and continued to perform and record music until his retirement in 2016. Sadly, Don Williams passed away on September 8, 2017, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most respected and beloved figures in country music history.
