Artist Bio:
Donny Hathaway was an American soul singer, songwriter, and pianist who was born on October 1, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois. He began his music career in the 1960s, working as a session musician and producer before releasing his debut album, "Everything Is Everything," in 1970. Hathaway is best known for his smooth, emotive voice and his ability to blend elements of jazz, R&B, and gospel music in his songs.


Throughout his career, Hathaway collaborated with other famous musicians like Roberta Flack, with whom he recorded the hit duets "Where Is the Love" and "The Closer I Get to You." Despite his talent and critical acclaim, Hathaway struggled with mental health issues, which ultimately led to his tragic death by suicide on January 13, 1979, at the age of 33. Despite his untimely passing, Donny Hathaway's music continues to be celebrated and remembered for its emotional depth and timeless quality.
