Artist Bio:
Donny Hathaway was an American soul and R&B singer, songwriter, arranger, and pianist, born on October 1, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois. He rose to fame in the 1970s with hits such as "The Ghetto" and "Where Is the Love" with Roberta Flack. Hathaway's music was known for its emotional depth, smooth vocals, and jazz influences. He collaborated with various artists, including Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, and Curtis Mayfield.


Tragically, Donny Hathaway struggled with mental health issues throughout his life and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He died on January 13, 1979, at the age of 33, after falling from the 15th floor of a building in New York City in what was ruled a suicide. Despite his untimely death, Hathaway's music continues to be celebrated for its timeless quality and influence on the soul and R&B genres.
