Doris Day was an American actress, singer, and animal welfare activist. She was born on April 3, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and passed away on May 13, 2019, in Carmel Valley Village, California. Day began her career as a big band singer in the 1940s before transitioning to a successful film career in the 1950s and 1960s.
Day starred in numerous hit films, including "Pillow Talk," "Calamity Jane," and "The Man Who Knew Too Much." She received several accolades throughout her career, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Presidential Medal of Freedom. In addition to her entertainment career, Day was known for her passion for animal welfare and founded the Doris Day Animal Foundation in 1978. She dedicated much of her later life to advocating for animal rights and rescue.
