Doris Day was an American actress, singer, and animal welfare activist, born on April 3, 1922, and passing away on May 13, 2019. She began her career as a big band singer in 1939, and by the 1950s, she had transitioned into a successful film career, starring in romantic comedies and musicals. Day was known for her girl-next-door persona, wholesome image, and versatile talent, earning her numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.


In addition to her entertainment career, Doris Day was a passionate advocate for animal rights. In 1978, she founded the Doris Day Animal Foundation, which aimed to rescue and protect animals in need. Day dedicated much of her later life to animal welfare work, becoming a leading voice in the movement.
