Artist Bio:
Dr. Hook was an American rock band formed in Union City, New Jersey in 1968. The band's members included Ray Sawyer, Dennis Locorriere, and George Cummings, among others. They were known for their unique sound that blended elements of rock, pop, and country music. Dr. Hook achieved commercial success in the 1970s with hits like "Sylvia's Mother," "Cover of the Rolling Stone," and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman."
The band's name was inspired by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, a fictional character mentioned in the Shel Silverstein song "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'" which the band later covered. Dr. Hook's music was characterized by catchy melodies, clever lyrics, and a laid-back style that appealed to a wide audience. Despite various lineup changes over the years, Dr. Hook continued to tour and perform until they officially disbanded in 1985.
