Dr. Hook And The Medicine Show was an American rock band formed in Union City, New Jersey in 1968. The band was fronted by lead vocalist Ray Sawyer and featured a rotating cast of musicians. They are best known for their hit songs "Sylvia's Mother," "Cover of the Rolling Stone," and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman."


The band's music was characterized by a mix of rock, country, and pop influences, and they gained popularity in the early 1970s with their catchy tunes and comedic lyrics. Dr. Hook And The Medicine Show released several albums throughout the 1970s before disbanding in 1985.
