Artist Bio:
Dr. Hook was an American rock band formed in Union City, New Jersey in 1968. The band's music was a mix of rock, pop, and country, and they were known for their humorous and sometimes controversial lyrics. The band's name was inspired by the lead vocalist, Ray Sawyer, who wore an eye patch after losing an eye in a car accident.
Dr. Hook had several hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s, including "Sylvia's Mother," "Cover of the Rolling Stone," and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman." The band enjoyed commercial success and a loyal fan base throughout their career. Dr. Hook disbanded in 1985, but some of the original members continued to perform under the name "Dr. Hook featuring Ray Sawyer" until Sawyer's retirement in 2015.
