Artist Bio:
Dr. Hook was an American rock band formed in Union City, New Jersey in 1968. The band's music spanned multiple genres including rock, country, and pop, and they were known for their comedic and sometimes risqué lyrics. The band's name was inspired by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, a fictional character mentioned in the Shel Silverstein song "The Cover of Rolling Stone."
Dr. Hook achieved commercial success in the 1970s with hits such as "Sylvia's Mother," "The Cover of Rolling Stone," and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman." The band's lead vocalist, Ray Sawyer, was known for his distinctive eyepatch and cowboy hat. Dr. Hook disbanded in 1985, but their music continues to be celebrated by fans of classic rock and country music.
