Dr. Hook was an American rock band formed in Union City, New Jersey in 1968. The band achieved commercial success with their soft rock and pop-influenced sound in the 1970s. They were known for their country-influenced style and humorous lyrics. Dr. Hook's best-known songs include "Sylvia's Mother," "Cover of the Rolling Stone," "A Little Bit More," and "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman."
The band was led by vocalist Ray Sawyer and featured musicians such as Dennis Locorriere, George Cummings, and Jance Garfat. Dr. Hook released several successful albums throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. They disbanded in 1985 but have reunited for occasional performances over the years. Dr. Hook's music continues to be popular among fans of 1970s rock and pop music.
