Dr. John, born as Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. on November 20, 1940, was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist who was known for his unique blend of blues, jazz, boogie-woogie, and rock and roll music. He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, which greatly influenced his musical style. Dr. John began his music career in the 1950s as a session musician and later gained recognition for his solo work in the 1970s.


Throughout his career, Dr. John released over 20 studio albums and won six Grammy Awards, including one for his acclaimed album "Locked Down" in 2013. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. Dr. John's music was characterized by his soulful voice, intricate piano playing, and colorful stage presence, making him a beloved figure in the music industry. He passed away on June 6, 2019, leaving behind a legacy of pioneering music that continues to inspire fans and musicians worldwide.
