Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
Dyke and the Blazers were an American funk band led by Arlester "Dyke" Christian. They were known for their energetic live performances and influential role in the development of funk music in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band's biggest hit was "Funky Broadway," which reached the top of the R&B charts in 1967. They were also known for songs like "We Got More Soul" and "Let a Woman Be a Woman - Let a Man Be a Man."

Dyke and the Blazers were one of the first groups to combine the raw energy of R&B with the tight grooves of funk, helping to pave the way for the funk music that would become popular in the 1970s. Despite their influence on the genre, the band's success was short-lived, and they disbanded in the early 1970s. Dyke Christian tragically passed away in 1971, but the legacy of Dyke and the Blazers lives on in their groundbreaking music.
