Eazy-E, born Eric Lynn Wright on September 7, 1964, was an American rapper and music executive. He was a prominent figure in the West Coast hip-hop scene and is best known for being a founding member of the pioneering rap group N.W.A. Eazy-E played a significant role in popularizing gangsta rap, which featured gritty lyrics about urban street life and violence.
Eazy-E released his debut solo album, "Eazy-Duz-It," in 1988, which was a commercial success and helped solidify his status as a solo artist. He also co-founded Ruthless Records, a record label that signed notable artists like Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. Eazy-E's career was tragically cut short when he passed away on March 26, 1995, at the age of 31 due to complications from AIDS. Despite his untimely death, Eazy-E's contributions to hip-hop and his influence on the genre continue to be recognized and celebrated.
