Eddie Floyd is an American soul and R&B singer and songwriter, born on June 25, 1937, in Montgomery, Alabama. He is best known for his hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s, including "Knock on Wood" and "Big Bird." Floyd began his music career as a member of the vocal group The Falcons before embarking on a successful solo career. He was signed to Stax Records, where he recorded many of his most popular songs.


Floyd's music is characterized by his expressive vocals and energetic performances, which helped him become a prominent figure in the soul music scene. His songs have been covered by numerous artists over the years, solidifying his legacy in the genre.
