Eddie Floyd, born on June 25, 1937, is an American soul-R&B singer and songwriter. He is best known for his hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s, such as "Knock on Wood" and "Raise Your Hand." Floyd was a key figure in the development of the Memphis soul sound, having been a part of Stax Records, a prominent record label in the genre. He co-wrote many of his own songs and also penned hits for other artists on the label.
