He was born on December 17, 1939, in Union Springs, Alabama, and grew up in Birmingham. Kendricks joined The Temptations in 1960 and his distinctive falsetto voice became a defining element of the group's sound, contributing to their success in the 1960s and early 1970s.
In 1971, Kendricks left The Temptations to pursue a solo career and had several successful singles, including the hit song "Keep On Truckin'." He continued to release music throughout the 1970s and 1980s, earning critical acclaim for his smooth vocals and R&B style. Kendricks passed away on October 5, 1992, but his legacy as a talented singer and influential figure in the Motown music scene lives on.
