The Edgar Winter Group was an American rock band formed in 1972 by the multi-instrumentalist Edgar Winter. The group's music encompassed a variety of genres such as rock, jazz, blues, and pop, and they were known for their energetic live performances. Their debut album, "They Only Come Out at Night," released in 1972, was a commercial success and featured the hit single "Frankenstein," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band's sound was characterized by Winter's distinctive vocals and his skillful use of synthesizers and other instruments.

In addition to Edgar Winter on vocals, keyboards, saxophone, and percussion, the group included musicians such as Ronnie Montrose on guitar, Dan Hartman on bass and vocals, and Chuck Ruff on drums. Despite various lineup changes over the years, the Edgar Winter Group continued to release albums and tour throughout the 1970s, leaving a lasting impact on the rock music scene of that era.
