Edie Brickell is an American singer-songwriter born on March 10, 1966, in Oak Cliff, Texas. She is best known as the lead singer of the band Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, which gained popularity in the late 1980s. The band's debut album, "Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars," released in 1988, featured the hit single "What I Am," which helped propel them to mainstream success.


In addition to her work with the New Bohemians, Edie Brickell has also released solo albums and collaborated with other musicians, including Steve Martin. She married musician Paul Simon in 1992, and the couple has collaborated on music projects together. Edie Brickell continues to perform and record music, showcasing her unique folk-rock style and introspective lyrics.
