Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) were a British progressive rock supergroup formed in 1970. The band consisted of keyboardist Keith Emerson, vocalist and guitarist Greg Lake, and drummer Carl Palmer. They were known for their complex musical compositions, virtuosic musicianship, and elaborate live performances that incorporated classical music influences.
ELP released several successful albums, including their self-titled debut in 1970, "Tarkus" in 1971, and "Brain Salad Surgery" in 1973. The band's music often featured extended instrumental passages, innovative use of synthesizers, and a fusion of rock and classical elements. ELP disbanded in 1979 but reunited for several tours and albums in the 1990s and 2000s. They are considered one of the pioneering bands in the progressive rock genre and have left a lasting impact on the music industry.
