Engelbert Humperdinck is a British pop singer who was born on May 2, 1936, in Madras, British India (now Chennai, India). He rose to fame in the 1960s with his hit song "Release Me" which topped the charts in the UK. Humperdinck has had a successful career spanning over six decades, with a string of hits including "The Last Waltz" and "After the Lovin'".
In addition to his music career, Engelbert Humperdinck has represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 with the song "Love Will Set You Free". He has sold over 140 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. Humperdinck has also received several awards throughout his career, including a Golden Globe for Entertainer of the Year in 1988.
