Eric Burdon & The Animals were a British rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1960s. The band achieved widespread success in the mid-1960s with their gritty, bluesy sound and energetic live performances. Led by vocalist Eric Burdon, the band's lineup featured keyboardist Alan Price, bassist Chas Chandler, guitarist Hilton Valentine, and drummer John Steel.
Eric Burdon & The Animals are best known for hits such as "House of the Rising Sun," "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," and "We Gotta Get Out of This Place." The band's music was characterized by its raw, emotional intensity and socially conscious lyrics, which reflected the turbulent times of the 1960s. Eric Burdon & The Animals disbanded in 1969, with Burdon going on to pursue a successful solo career and occasional reunions with former bandmates.
