Ernie K-Doe, born Ernest Kador Jr., was an American rhythm and blues singer best known for his 1961 hit song "Mother-in-Law," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. K-Doe was born on February 22, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He started his music career as a member of the group the Blue Diamonds before going solo.
In addition to his music career, K-Doe was known for his flamboyant personality and unique fashion sense. He was a prominent figure in the New Orleans music scene and was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2009. K-Doe passed away on July 5, 2001, but his music continues to be celebrated by fans of rhythm and blues.
