Eydie Gorme was an American singer who gained fame as a solo artist and as part of the musical duo Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme. Born on August 16, 1928, in New York City, Gorme started her career in the 1950s, becoming known for her versatile vocal range and ability to sing in multiple languages, including Spanish and Portuguese. She released numerous albums throughout her career, earning several Grammy nominations and a Grammy award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1967.
Gorme was known for her successful collaboration with her husband, Steve Lawrence, with whom she performed in nightclubs, on television, and in recordings. The duo's hit songs included "Go Away Little Girl" and "Blame It on the Bossa Nova." Gorme continued to perform and record music until her retirement in the early 2000s. She passed away on August 10, 2013, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and influential singer in the American music industry.
