Artist Bio:
Fanny was an American rock band formed in 1970, considered to be the first all-female rock band to sign a record deal with a major label. The band consisted of June Millington on guitar, Jean Millington on bass, Alice de Buhr on drums, and Nickey Barclay on keyboards. Fanny released five albums between 1970 and 1974, with their self-titled debut album in 1970 receiving critical acclaim. They were known for their bluesy rock sound and strong musicianship, with June Millington being particularly noted for her guitar skills.
Fanny faced challenges in the male-dominated rock industry but were able to achieve a loyal following and some commercial success. They paved the way for future female rock musicians and are considered pioneers in the women's rock movement. Despite disbanding in 1975, Fanny's influence on the music industry continues to be recognized, and they are remembered as trailblazers for women in rock music.
