Flatt & Scruggs was a popular American bluegrass duo consisting of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. The duo is best known for popularizing bluegrass music during the 1940s and 1950s with their innovative style and energetic performances. Lester Flatt played guitar and provided vocals, while Earl Scruggs was a master of the 3-finger banjo picking style that became known as "Scruggs Style."


Flatt & Scruggs were key members of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys before forming their own band, The Foggy Mountain Boys, in 1948. The duo achieved commercial success with hits like "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and "The Ballad of Jed Clampett," which became the theme song for the popular TV show "The Beverly Hillbillies." Flatt & Scruggs were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1985, solidifying their legacy as influential figures in the world of bluegrass music.
