Foo Fighters is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1994 by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. The band's name is derived from a term used by Allied aircraft pilots during World War II to describe unidentified flying objects. Grohl initially recorded a demo album playing all the instruments himself, before recruiting band members to create the full lineup. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1995 and included hits like "This Is a Call" and "Big Me".
Since their debut, Foo Fighters have released nine studio albums, with hits such as "Everlong," "Learn to Fly," and "The Pretender."
