Artist Bio:
The Four Tops are an American vocal quartet that achieved great success in the 1960s and 1970s. The group was formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1953, and its original members were Levi Stubbs, Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Renaldo "Obie" Benson, and Lawrence Payton. The Four Tops are known for their smooth harmonies, powerful vocals, and energetic performances.
The group signed with Motown Records in 1963 and went on to release a string of hit songs, including "Baby I Need Your Loving," "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)," and "Reach Out I'll Be There." The Four Tops continued to record and perform for several decades, earning inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999. Levi Stubbs, the lead singer of the group, passed away in 2008, but the Four Tops have continued to perform with Fakir as the only original member still active in the group.
