He was born on December 8, 1925, in Harlem, New York City, and began his career as a child performer. Davis Jr. achieved success in music with hits like "The Candy Man" and "Mr. Bojangles," and also appeared in films and TV shows. He was known for his versatility and talent across multiple entertainment mediums, as well as his contributions to civil rights and breaking down racial barriers in Hollywood. Davis Jr. passed away on May 16, 1990.
