Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 2002. The band consists of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar), Bob Hardy (bass guitar), Paul Thomson (drums, percussion), Julian Corrie (keyboards, synthesizers, guitar), and Dino Bardot (guitar). They are known for their energetic live performances and a sound that blends elements of indie rock, post-punk, and dance-pop.
Franz Ferdinand gained international fame with their self-titled debut album, released in 2004, which included hits such as "Take Me Out" and "The Dark of the Matinée." The album received critical acclaim and won the Mercury Prize in 2004. They have since released several more albums, including "You Could Have It So Much Better" (2005), "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand" (2009), and "Always Ascending" (2018). Franz Ferdinand continues to be a prominent figure in the indie rock scene and has maintained a dedicated fan base worldwide.
