Fred Parris & The Five Satins are an American doo-wop group best known for their 1956 hit song "In the Still of the Night." The group was formed in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1954 by lead singer Fred Parris. The original lineup included members Al Denby, Ed Martin, Jim Freeman, and Nat Mosley.


"In the Still of the Night" was a major success for the group, reaching number three on the R&B chart and number 25 on the pop chart. The song has since become a doo-wop classic and is considered one of the greatest R&B songs of all time. Fred Parris & The Five Satins continued to record and perform throughout the 1960s and beyond, solidifying their legacy as one of the pioneering groups of the doo-wop genre.
