Freddie Scott was an American soul singer and songwriter born on April 24, 1933, in Providence, Rhode Island. He is best known for his 1966 hit song "Hey, Girl," which reached number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Scott started his music career in the 1950s as a songwriter for artists like Ben E. King and The Shirelles before releasing his own music.


In addition to "Hey, Girl," Scott had other charting songs such as "Are You Lonely For Me" and "Cry To Me." His soulful voice and heartfelt delivery earned him a loyal following among soul music fans. Despite not achieving widespread commercial success, Freddie Scott's music has endured over the years and has been covered by various artists. He continued to perform and record music throughout his career until his passing on June 4, 2007, leaving behind a legacy of soulful and emotive music.
