Freddie Scott was an American soul singer born on April 24, 1933, in Providence, Rhode Island. He is best known for his 1966 hit song "Hey, Girl," which reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Scott began his music career in the late 1950s, recording for various labels before signing with the Shout Records label in the early 1960s. He released several singles and albums throughout the 1960s, gaining popularity for his soulful voice and emotive delivery.
In addition to "Hey, Girl," some of Freddie Scott's other notable songs include "Are You Lonely for Me," "Cry to Me," and "Am I Grooving You." Despite not achieving widespread commercial success, Scott's music has been highly regarded by soul music enthusiasts and critics.
