Freddy Fender was a Mexican-American Tejano, country, and rock and roll musician. He was born Baldemar Garza Huerta on June 4, 1937, in San Benito, Texas, and passed away on October 14, 2006. Fender is best known for his hits such as "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" and "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights". He achieved success in the 1970s and became a significant figure in the Chicano music scene.


Fender's career was marked by his ability to blend various musical styles, including country, rock, and Tejano, creating a unique sound that resonated with audiences across different genres. He was inducted into the Tejano Music Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002, recognizing his contributions to music.
