Artist Bio:
Freddy Fender, whose real name was Baldemar Huerta, was a Mexican-American Tejano, country, and rock and roll musician born in San Benito, Texas in 1937. He was best known for his hits "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" and "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights," both of which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the 1970s. Fender was a pioneer in the Tex-Mex music scene and was one of the first Hispanic musicians to achieve mainstream success in the United States.


Fender's music blended traditional Mexican influences with country and rock elements, creating a unique sound that resonated with audiences across different genres. Throughout his career, Fender won several Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Tejano Music Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2006 at the age of 69, leaving behind a legacy as a trailblazer for Hispanic artists in the music industry.
