Freddy King was an influential blues guitarist and singer born on September 3, 1934, in Gilmer, Texas. He is known for his distinctive guitar style, combining elements of Texas and Chicago blues. King gained popularity in the 1960s with his hits such as "Hide Away" and "Lonesome Whistle Blues."


King was often referred to as the "Texas Cannonball" and was a major influence on many rock and blues guitarists, including Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as an early influence. Freddy King's powerful voice and dynamic guitar playing continue to inspire musicians and resonate with blues fans around the world. King passed away on December 28, 1976, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time.
