Garnet Mimms & The Enchanters were an American soul group formed in Philadelphia in the early 1960s. The group consisted of lead singer Garnet Mimms, Charles Boyer, Zola Pearnell, and Samuel Bell. They are best known for their hit single "Cry Baby," released in 1963, which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was later covered by Janis Joplin in 1971.


Garnet Mimms & The Enchanters were known for their smooth vocal harmonies and soulful sound, which helped them gain popularity in the R&B and soul music scene of the 1960s. Despite their relatively short-lived career, the group made a significant impact on the music industry and are remembered as pioneers of the soul genre.
