Artist Bio:
Gayle McCormick was an American singer best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Smith. She was born on November 26, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, and began her music career in the 1960s. McCormick gained popularity as the frontwoman of Smith, which released their self-titled debut album in 1969. The band's biggest hit was a cover of The Shirelles' "Baby It's You," which reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1969.

After Smith disbanded in the early 1970s, McCormick pursued a solo career and released several albums, including "One More Hour" in 1971 and "Flesh & Blood" in 1972. Despite not achieving the same level of commercial success as she did with Smith, McCormick continued to perform and record music throughout her career. Gayle McCormick passed away on March 1, 2016, at the age of 67.
