Gayle McCormick was an American singer who was born on November 26, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was best known as the lead vocalist for the rock band Smith, which was formed in 1969. Smith's most well-known hit was the song "Baby It's You," which reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1969.
After leaving Smith in 1971, McCormick pursued a solo career and released several albums, including "Gayle McCormick" in 1971 and "One More Hour" in 1974. She continued to perform and record music throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Gayle McCormick passed away on March 1, 2016, at the age of 67.
