Artist Bio:
Gene and Debbe were a pop duo from Nashville, Tennessee, consisting of Gene Thomas and Debbe Neville. They were active in the 1960s and known for their two biggest hits, "Playboy" and "Go with Me". "Playboy" reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart and number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States in 1968. The song was written by Thomas and produced by John D. Loudermilk. Their follow-up single, "Go with Me", reached number 40 in the UK in the same year.
Despite their moderate success with these two singles, Gene and Debbe did not release any further hit records and eventually disbanded. Gene Thomas continued his music career as a solo artist and songwriter, while Debbe Neville pursued other interests outside of the music industry. Their brief but notable presence in the pop music scene of the 1960s has left a lasting impact on fans of the era.
