Artist Bio:
Gene Chandler, born Eugene Dixon on July 6, 1937, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known for his 1962 hit song "Duke of Earl," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Chandler began his music career as a member of a doo-wop group called The Dukays before launching a successful solo career. He was known for his smooth and soulful voice, as well as his energetic stage presence.


In addition to "Duke of Earl," Chandler had several other chart-topping hits in the 1960s and 1970s, including "Groovy Situation" and "Rainbow." He was inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2014 in recognition of his contributions to the music industry. Chandler continues to perform and record music, maintaining a dedicated fan base and solidifying his legacy as a pioneer in the soul and R&B genres.
